Last updated: August 18, 2026

The Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre & Sexual Assault Services Association (AWRCSASA) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us through the One Door website at onedoor.awrcsasa.ca.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through this website, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices available to you.

Information We Collect

One Door Community Statement of Support

If you choose to add your name in support of the One Door campaign, we may collect:

  • your first and last name;

  • your organization, if you choose to provide it;

  • your email address;

  • your postal code; and

  • your consent to have your name counted as part of the One Door community statement of support.

We collect this information only when you choose to submit it.

We use this information to:

  • record and count community support for the One Door campaign;

  • understand the general geographic reach of campaign support;

  • administer and maintain the statement of support; and

  • communicate with you about your submission if reasonably necessary.

Submitting your support does not automatically subscribe you to campaign emails or newsletters.

Campaign Updates and Newsletters

You may separately choose to receive One Door or AWRCSASA campaign updates by email.

If you provide consent, we will use your email address to send those communications. You may unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in our emails or by contacting us.

Choosing not to receive email updates does not affect your ability to add your name to the community statement of support.

Website and Technical Information

Like most websites, our web server and service providers may automatically collect limited technical information when you visit the site. This may include information such as:

  • your Internet Protocol (IP) address;

  • browser and device type;

  • approximate geographic region;

  • referring website;

  • pages visited; and

  • date and time of your visit.

We may also use privacy-conscious website analytics to understand general website traffic and how visitors use the site.

This information is used to maintain website security, troubleshoot technical issues, understand site usage and improve the website. We do not use this information to personally identify visitors unless necessary for security, fraud prevention or legal purposes.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

The website may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for the website to function properly.

Third-party content or services included on or linked from the website may also use their own cookies or similar technologies. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may affect some website functionality.

How We Use Personal Information

We use personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected, or for another purpose where you have provided consent or where permitted or required by law.

We do not sell or rent personal information.

We do not use information submitted through the One Door support form for unrelated marketing or fundraising communications unless you have separately consented to receive those communications.

Sharing of Information

We do not disclose your personal information to outside organizations except where reasonably necessary to operate the website or campaign, where you have provided consent, or where disclosure is permitted or required by law.

We may use trusted service providers to help us operate the website, process website forms, host information, provide email communications, maintain website security or perform related technical services. These providers are given access only to the information reasonably necessary to provide those services and are expected to handle personal information appropriately.

We may also disclose information where required by law, court order or other lawful authority, or where necessary to protect the rights, safety or security of AWRCSASA, our website visitors or others.

Links and Third-Party Services

The One Door website contains links to external websites and services, including donation, volunteer and media platforms.

When you leave our website or interact directly with a third-party service, that organization’s own privacy policy and practices apply. AWRCSASA is not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites or services.

Retention of Personal Information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected and to meet applicable legal, administrative or record-keeping requirements.

Information collected as part of the One Door community statement of support may be retained for the duration of the campaign and for a reasonable period afterward for campaign reporting and organizational records.

Email subscription information is retained while you remain subscribed and as necessary to maintain records of consent and unsubscribe requests.

When personal information is no longer reasonably required, we will delete, anonymize or securely dispose of it as appropriate.

Protecting Your Information

AWRCSASA takes reasonable administrative, technical and organizational measures to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction.

No website, email service or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we take reasonable steps appropriate to the nature of the information we collect.

Your Choices and Rights

You may contact us to:

  • ask what personal information we have about you;

  • request access to or correction of your personal information;

  • withdraw consent where consent is the basis for our use of your information;

  • ask us to remove your information from the One Door community statement of support, where reasonably possible;

  • unsubscribe from campaign emails; or

  • ask questions or raise concerns about how your information is handled.

Withdrawal of consent does not affect uses or disclosures that occurred before consent was withdrawn or information that we are required or permitted by law to retain.

Children and Young People

The One Door website is intended for a general audience and we do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children through the community statement of support.

If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us without appropriate consent, please contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, remove the information.
