For more than 40 years, the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre & Sexual Assault Services Association (AWRCSASA) has been a place of safety, support, and connection for women, youth, and families in Antigonish and surrounding communities.
It has been a place people turn to during some of the hardest and most personal moments of their lives — when they are experiencing violence or abuse, navigating sexual assault, facing mental and emotional health challenges, or simply trying to find a way forward.
Today, the need for these services has outgrown the centre’s current space.
Through the One Door Campaign, AWRCSASA is expanding its centre so women, girls, Two-Spirit, trans and non-binary people, youth, and families can access support through one safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed space.

The COVID-19 pandemic revealed how vulnerable many people become when support systems are out of reach. Since 2020, thousands of individuals have turned to AWRCSASA for safety, support, healthcare, counselling, advocacy, and connection– demonstrating both the growing need for these services and their impact within our community.
